FIVE ELEMENTS
The Five Elements in a BaZi chart
Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water describe relationships of generation and control. A simple symbol count is not the same as elemental strength or balance.
Generation
Wood generates Fire, Fire generates Earth, Earth generates Metal, Metal generates Water and Water generates Wood.
Control
Wood controls Earth, Earth controls Water, Water controls Fire, Fire controls Metal and Metal controls Wood.
Why counts are limited
Season, hidden stems, roots, combinations and timing all affect interpretation. A missing or frequent visible element should not automatically be called bad or favorable.
